PHACT NEWS

PHACT completed three Think Tank meetings in May, June and July 2010 to review and comment on the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) Beta test materials and processes for national accreditation. Over 50 participants in the meetings represented 25 small, medium and large local health departments (LHDs) from across the state, the state and regional health departments, and other entities involved in the implementation of public health activities. During the August PHACT meeting, contents of the final Summary Report were approved, identifying challenges expressed by the LHDs in meeting accreditation standards and measures. Recommended improvements to the process, also conferred by PHACT, were included. TALHO submitted the completed report in September to the PHAB. PHAB expects to launch national accreditation in late 2011. PHACT will continue to monitor PHAB activities and inform LHDs on available training and technical assistance opportunities.
